Aboriginal Liaison Officer Squad

Categories: Employment, News

A new Aboriginal Liaison Officer Squad has been deployed across the NT in a bid to help strengthen relationships between police and Indigenous communities. In April, with the support of TITEB Employment Services, Tenisha Tipungwuti and Jerone-Nim Tipumantumirri commenced as Police Liaison Officers at Wurrumiyanga, creating a positive link between local community members and Wurrumiyanga Police.

While the role can be busy and challenging at times, both officers are enjoying their work.

According to Tenisha “it’s a great job, it’s always different.”

Jerone said they are “making it easier for the police to do their job”.

Both Tenisha and Jerone have regular contact with TITEB staff who offer post-placement support.
