As the CDP provider for the Tiwi Islands, we aim to develop business and employment opportunities for Tiwis within the context of Tiwi culture.
Our work is cut out for us. While we have 1800+ working-aged adults across both Islands, statistics show that there are only 300-350 local jobs at any given time.
We work with both employers and job seekers to identify permanent, seasonal and external employment opportunities for Tiwi people. We know what jobs are available on the open market, and also look out for hidden job opportunities such as newly created positions or business opportunities emerge. Employers are also encouraged to host CDP Activities where job seekers can build capacity and skills for future employment, whilst also helping the community.
CDP activities are aimed at helping job seekers overcome barriers to work, such as confidence, lack of training or employer biases. We offer a range of training and skills development opportunities, and will identify courses and activities to suit the needs of individual job seekers. We are here to help job seekers meet their activity and reporting requirements for Centrelink.
