To achieve the best possible outcomes for the Tiwi community, TITEB GTO is actively seeking partnerships with potential employers.
We have strong partnerships with Tiwi College, Tiwi Enterprises, Red Cross, DT Hobbs and the Bathurst Island Housing Association. Each year we see Tiwi people graduate with the kind of work ethic that makes them highly sought after.
Some gain qualifications and advancement on-the-job. At Nguiu Garage one existing employee was able to fast-track his apprenticeship through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Another fantastic outcome is younger Tiwi stepping straight out of school into jobs. Senior young men at Tiwi College graduate with the Certificate II in Sport and Recreation, and this year, two young women will complete the Certificate II in Business with work placements in school reception and the library.
We are also working with Xavier Catholic College to help students transition into employment through school-based apprenticeships. We encourage local employers to offer work experience to senior students while they are still at school.
