Each school day, TITEB serves up more than 150 delicious and nutritious meals for children in Milikapiti and Pirlangimpi communities.
In 2017, TITEB took over management of the School Nutrition Program at Milikapiti School. Based on its success, in 2020 we extended the program to Pularumpi School in Pirlangimpi.
Across the program, our SNP team members have Safe Food Handling certificates, and follow NTG school nutrition and healthy eating guidelines. They use the ‘traffic light’ system to ensure that every meal is not only delicious but healthy too.
Healthy students are more alert, engaged and better able to concentrate. TITEB is proud of the work our SNP teams are doing to help our children on their learning journey.
Wages for the kitchen staff are paid by the funding body, the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA). The food for the program is paid for by parent/caregiver contributions. Parent feedback is overwhelmingly positive.
