TITEB CDP aims to support Tiwi job seekers to build skills, address barriers to employment and contribute to their communities through activities and training.
Voluntary CDP participants provide much-needed community services, including home maintenance and firewood delivery for disadvantaged community members, and community projects such as the Mantiyupwi Community Fish Trap at Wurrumiyanga. Communities on Bathurst and Melville Islands are well equipped to undertake high value projects and training.
Based on community consultation, activities are regularly reviewed and refreshed to provide renewed interest and opportunities. From time to time, participants also visit other communities to share ideas and discuss what works. This interaction boosts energy and enthusiasm between sites, and participants take ideas back to their own communities.
