In late 2023, the old Yellow Shirts program (RSAS) changed to the new Education Engagement and Attainment Initiatives (EEAI). On the Tiwi Islands, that meant our Tiwi School Support Services (TSSS) team changed uniforms from Yellow to Green but we’re still working hard to help Tiwi children get to school.

We continue to support students and families, promote the value of education, and run fun events like Yellow Shirts Day to celebrate school attendance. It’s one of our favourite events, bringing everyone together to remind kids that school is important and the community is behind them.

This year, we’ve built strong local teams in each community and increased Tiwi leadership in the program. School attendance across the Tiwi Islands is 67.75% which is higher than the average for remote NT.

While this is something to be proud of, we know we can do even better. Let’s keep working together to get every Tiwi child to school every day!
