Bathurst Farm: A New Chapter

TITEB took over Bathurst Farm in 2013 during the shift from CDP to Remote Jobs and Communities Programme (RJCP). Thanks to the Mantiyupwi clan, who generously leased the land to us, the farm has become a space for rural training and future business opportunities.

Located 8km from Wurrumiyanga, the farm faced issues with theft and vandalism due to no one living onsite. It was clear we needed secure fencing and accommodation to move forward.

After some early setbacks, things turned around in 2017 when our CEO Maria Harvey partnered with the Centre for Appropriate Technology and Bush Light to create an environmentally friendly development plan. By 2020, our ABA funding application was approved, and after some delays, the new accommodation was finished in mid-2022.

Now, with a secure and active site, Bathurst Farm is home to farming, Caring for Country, training programs, and the Headstone Project. We celebrated this milestone with a community opening on 31 August, 2024.
