Maminikuwi Trainee Day

Maminikuwi Trainee Day

Categories: Training, Apprenticeships, News

We recently held the Maminikuwi (Women’s) Trainee Day, a special event proudly hosted by the TITEB GTO at Wharf One, Darwin Waterfront. This day was all about celebrating and empowering Tiwi women who are gaining skills through training and employment opportunities.

It was inspiring to see how far our female trainees have come — their dedication and hard work really shine. With our trainee numbers growing steadily, we’re thrilled to support more women on their journey into meaningful careers that strengthen the Tiwi community.

The event was a great chance for trainees to connect with mentors, employers, and training providers. These conversations help open doors and encourage more women to step into roles that contribute to both the local economy and community life on the islands.

We were joined by some amazing guests from CDU, Apprenticeships NT, the NT Government, Strong Brothers Strong Sisters, ISACNT, and others. A highlight was the inspiring keynote speech from Rikkie Bruce who is a CDU graduate, NT Trainee Award winner, and now an engineer with INPEX. Thank you to everyone who came and made the day so special!
