A new Aboriginal Liaison Officer Squad has been deployed across the NT in a bid to help strengthen relationships between police and Indigenous communities. In April, with the support of TITEB Employment Services, Tenisha Tipungwuti and Jerone-Nim Tipumantumirri commenced as Police Liaison Officers at Wurrumiyanga, creating a positive link between local community members and Wurrumiyanga Police.<\/p>\n
While the role can be busy and challenging at times, both officers are enjoying their work.<\/p>\n
According to Tenisha \u201cit\u2019s a great job, it\u2019s always different.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jerone said they are \u201cmaking it easier for the police to do their job\u201d.<\/p>\n
Both Tenisha and Jerone have regular contact with TITEB staff who offer post-placement support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
