Kids Eating Well at School

Kids Eating Well at School

Categories: School, Milikapiti

School meals have made a big difference to attendance at Milikapiti School. Children used to wait around in the morning for the shop to open and then get to school late, missing quite a lot of their literacy time. So, Milikapati School started a breakfast program, which means kids can come and have a good breakfast at school, and start their classes on time.

Every day kids at school are also served a delicious lunch cooked by Agnes Lorenzo and her team in the kitchen. Agnes loves cooking. She has grandchildren, nieces and nephews at the school, and is committed to keeping all the kids healthy and making sure they’re eating right.

School lunches are funded through the School Nutrition Program. TITEB facilitates the day-to-day running of the program, working with Agnes Lorenzo and her team in the kitchen. Vegetables for the kids lunches are from the Milikapiti Hydroponics Nursery, also run by TITEB.
